Networking – 30 Second Commercial

11-06-2007

It’s not who you know. It is who knows you! And what they know about you!

“I spend 99 percent of my time networking locally building a strong web presence, establishing beneficial relationships with leaders in my field, speaking to business and civic groups and participating in charitable community outreach activities. I spend the other one percent trying to remember what it is I actually do for a living!” Tips on creating your 30 sec commercials.

Things you do for your customers. Write down five things you do for your customers. Do not think in terms of the products or services that you offer, but in terms of what your customer does with them once they have been purchased.

Why do people do business with you. Think of why people do business with you. Think of how your products or services help your customer save time, cut costs, improve productivity, increase revenues or give peace of mind. Write five things.

Now write a 30 second commercial.  You may write it several times before it is right! You also may end up with more than one version.

TouchStone MarketPoint! Craft your speech and practice practice, practice. It should roll off your tongue. You will be able to speak it with confidence and enthusiasm. It should open the door to more conversation. So practice it on your family, dog, neighbor, or the person in the coffee line at Starbucks. Who knows they may be your next new client?
